Meet the C4U Executive
Veronica is a child of immigrant parents who left everything and everyone they knew in England for a new country. They especially wanted opportunities for their three children, and that is exactly what happened.
Veronica graduated from Monash University law school with a Bachelor of Juris Prudence and Bachelor of law. After completing her articles she practised law for a number of years in private practice. She then had an opportunity to go to the US where she undertook further studies while having her first child, graduating from Marymount University with a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development.
However, wanting to practice law in the U.S. she embarked on a Masters Degree of Comparative Law at George Washington University in Washington DC. After that she successfully passed the Bar exams, becoming a member of the Bar.
Veronica then practised law for a number of years until her return to Australia, twenty years later with three children.
Veronica is the founder of Clothes4U Inc. together with a number of other local women.
She is dedicated to serving women and girls in need in her own community, realising that being born into poverty does not have to define your life. Sometimes all you need is someone to give you a helping hand. At Clothes4U our arms are always open, ready to embrace everyone who walks through our doors.
Barb came to Australia with her family from Newport, South Wales in 1983, first settling in Mordialloc where they added to their family with a son. After a number of moves Barb settled in Rosebud.
Most of her working life was spent with leading Australian companies where she assisted a number of CEO’s in the performance of their duties.
Barb has worked at a corporate level for most of her career where she was instrumental in the creation and implementation of policy.
Subsequently, Barb established and ran her own successful business with her husband.
As Secretary, Barb utilises her communication skills, organisational ability, corporate experience, management and business experience in Clothes4U Inc.
Barb has been with Clothes4U since its inception and is one of its most devoted volunteers. She loves nothing more than seeing the transformation of clients from the time they enter the boutique to the time they leave.
Recently retired from The Langham Hotel, Melbourne where I was Director of Quality. Prior to this I was the Director of Six Sigma, Black Belt, when the property was under the Starwood Hotels umbrella. Most of my hospitality background was operational, in the Rooms Division department, dealing with strategic and logistic issues. I was responsible for over 200 staff as well as handling guest situations. I was also responsible for creating, training and implementing the company continuous improvement program worldwide.
I travelled to all of the Langham Hotels trouble shooting and mentoring Quality and Training Managers. I was very lucky to assist The Langham, London during the London Olympics. Clothes 4 U has given me an opportunity to continue using the skills gained while working in the hospitality industry. It is important to give back to the community, especially our local one.
Lyn moved to the Mornington Peninsula 22 years ago with her husband and two sons. As a child she spent her holidays at their beach house at Blairgowrie and has had a connection to the peninsula for 60 years.
She grew up in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and after completing HSC studied at the YMCA Youth Leadership Course at Albert Park. Lyn then worked as a Program Director and Youth Worker at Essendon YMCA. Lyn continued studying and completed a Bachelor of Education specialising in Health and Physical Education at Deakin University. She taught for over 20 years and enjoyed it immensely. She gave up teaching to help run a family business which was recently sold.
Over the years Lyn and her husband have owned three different types of businesses – a newsagency in Collingwood where they lived with their sons; a wholesale bread run on the Gold Coast and the Rye Produce and Nursery store which they owned for 20 years.
Lyn is now semi-retired and has always wanted to do volunteer work. Clothes 4U has given her this opportunity where she can come into contact with women and men in need, and help them in a practical, caring way. Her fellow volunteers inspire her as they work together to achieve the organisation’s goals.
